Liver Cirrhosis – Signs and Symptoms

The liver is one of the most important organs of our body that is situated under the lung in the upper right abdominal cavity. The liver performs various vital functions such as eliminating wastes from the body, producing urea, cholesterol and bile, filtering harmful substances from the blood, making proteins, maintaining an appropriate level of glucose in the body, and so on. If injured, this organ has the incredible ability to regenerate most of its own cells.

Cirrhosis of the liver occurs due to various kinds of chronic injury to the organ that can result in scar tissue. The scar tissue does not allow healthy liver tissue to develop and partially blocks the blood that flows through the liver. This causes permanent damage to the liver by way of which it desists from performing its essential functions. Affected by cirrhosis, the liver is unable to replace damaged cells
