Sex and meditation

The two instincts in the life are the instinct to survive and the instinct for sex. It is not possible to ignore either of these instincts. But through meditation the inherent energy for these instincts could be channeled into other useful purposes also. This is especially important for monks, nuns etc who have decided to keep aloof from sex voluntarily.

If one tries to suppress the natural instinct of sex simply, it would come up in other forms., especially sexual perversions. Therefore the sexual instinct has to be taken care of for a balanced life. Monks and the nuns go through a purification process, which is one of their rituals. This would remove sexual drive from them completely. The sexual energy, which would be present in each and every individual, could be transformed into love, kindness, good actions, thoughts, feelings, etc, through prayer and meditation. Many of the monks who live in the temple leading a holy life through meditation testify that they could not even bring up sexual drive and there is no sexual desire left in them. A person who is having a balanced and harmonious life by having sex also could practices meditation and soon they would understand that they could have complete control over their emotions and could direct part of the energy for love towards every thing around them and also to themselves.  The sex life also would be improved dramatically after several months of meditation.

Thus it could be seen that meditation has a great role to play in sex. It is required to drive the sexual instinct to other useful purposes in the life of monks, nuns etc. It is required in the life of a normal person to have improvement in the sexual life and at the same time to divert some of the energy to love things around you.
